Held the first Tuesday of each month, IdAEP's monthly membership meeting provides an opportunity to connect with other members, discuss  relevant topics, and make professional connections.

Jillian Martin, Senior Cultural Resources Specialist with Parametrix, will present on the Sally Ann Creek Project, a transportation-related cultural resources mitigation effort conducted for the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

The project involved replacement of an existing culvert and a minor realignment (10 feet to the river side) of Idaho State Highway 13 in Idaho County, which resulted in an adverse effect to a National Register-eligible archaeological site (10IH835). As part of a Memorandum of Agreement, Parametrix completed data recovery excavations at the site in April 2024, including seven test units and one expanded excavation unit, recovering 81 lithic artifacts such as reduction flakes, tools, and a Cascade C projectile point dating to the middle Holocene (approximately 8,000–4,500 years BP).

Jillian’s presentation will highlight the excavation methods, analytical results, including blood protein residue analysis, and the challenges of interpreting low-density, disturbed archaeological assemblages within a transportation project context.
