Held the first Tuesday of each month, IdAEP's monthly membership meeting provides an opportunity to connect with other members, discuss  relevant topics, and make professional connections.

Steve Alsup will be presenting. Steve is a raptor biologist and a co-founder of the Birds of Prey NCA Partnership (BOPP) an Idaho 501c3 non-profit organization. BOPP’s mission is to support the management and conservation of the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds Of Prey National Conservation Area (NCA) through science, education, outreach, and partnerships.

Steve was drawn to Southwest Idaho in 2003, when he was hired to help conduct raptor surveys in the Snake River Canyon.  This experience inspired him to pursue a career in raptor biology, and he was accepted into the Raptor Biology graduate program at Boise State University a few years later.  In 2015, when a coalition of partner groups came together to form the Birds of Prey NCA Partnership, Steve stepped up to take the lead in the establishment of this new organization focused on supporting the management and conservation of this unique NCA.

Steve will present a brief overview of the organization’s history and describe BOPP’s current projects and programs, including BOPP’s annual event, Snake River Raptor Fest. Steve will also provide information about upcoming volunteer opportunities with their Habitat Improvement Program.
