Matthew Irving, an adventure filmmaker who specializes in documenting difficult projects. Whether it’s filming BASE jumping in the arctic for Pirelli Tires, summiting Mt. Everest for National Geographic, or riding migrant trains in Mexico for Al Jazeera, he takes great pleasure in pulling off the improbable.

Matthew got his start in outdoor film-making, and while his work ranges now from commercial shoots to big Hollywood films, he still is drawn to stories that explore the connection of people and place. Whether it’s filming scientists climbing a volcano in the Southern Ocean or exploring the silence of the American West, Matthew’s work always displays a sense of intimacy and frequently analyzes the natural strife that humans endure as they connect with their environment.
